Default PvP - The Point of a Shield

I have been participating in some of the PvP in the arena and I find it good fun they only thing that I cant quite understand is why a warrior wielding a two handed weapon easily beats a warrior who is using a one handed and a shield, obviously the one who is wielding the two handed will have a higher damage out put but that shouldn???t mean they will always win against another warrior who is using a one handed weapon and shield, which in my opinion make a shield pointless. Does anyone have any advice on how to fight a two handed weapon warrior with a one hand and shield one?

Also do any of you guys have any tips or advice for the arena as I could really do with some

I think the hammer warrior may have been making better use of his skills. Hammer is usually associated with higher damage and knockdown, so if the other guy doesn't have balanced stance, he's gonna have a harder time. There may be more to it than that as well...

Shield bearing warriors do fine verse two handed foe, NPC or otherwise; however, a well played two handed opponent can be a real handful. As previously mentioned, a better formed skill set and skill application/stacking makes a big difference. Additionally, a well disciplined fighter learns to shuffle-strafe to remain on the shield down side of his adversary, thus making your shields AC mute. Dont let a two handed foe move away from your shield side, if he/she is beside ( shield down side ) or behind you, be prepared for a world of double fisted hurt. If you are a two handed warrior, or any player vs. shield for that matter, it is good practice to exercise a bit of E/A, Q/D or plain Q or E strafing work -keeps that cutting utensil at work on the soft fleshy stuff, not your enemies shield.
